Menu tabs should have a manager area. Where the forum adminsitrator can setup new tabs, change the order or remove tabs.
Also adding image icons would benefit and make the tabs stand out more in the default theme.

Social logins for major social networks have used gigya in the past and easy to integrate without reinventing the wheel.

Friend inviting from major social networks have used open source addon and experience using that system
Pingback/trackback for Topics

Options to repost a topic/linkback to your wordpress site.

Topic options to include: Facebook like link, digg this, tweet this, and google+ and other social networks

Auto tweeting topics/posts to twitter and or facebook and (google+ have to read up on their developer apis) Would be setup on a board basis

Option to include facebook comment box? Not sure where it would be used yet.

Twitter and facebook feed blocks for main page and or portal

Encouraging Contributions and Third Party Development

Contributions can be made by anybody no contribution is too small the team will review each contribution and will discuss if should be a feature part of the core or a modification.

Easy approval process for modifications and themes. Support both free and paid apps to appear on the modification and theme sites.

For mod and theme sites built in dedicated bugtracker/feature request for each project.

Rating system for mods/themes

Built in version control number back to the package manager useful for checking out of date modifications.

Out of date modifications and themes check via a task manager for themes/modifications hosted on ezforum.com allows forum admins to know if any of their software is outdated.

Themes can be installed by the package manager

Easy way for community members to upload translations to modification this always bugged me and then the modification author can approve them.

For themes look into integrating colorizethis appears to be an easy way for people to create their own color variations of a theme.

Any time a post has been changed save a copy of the post into the database in case a post needs to be researched/restored.

Drafts to save long posts/pending posts like gmail so in case you refresh or computer issues you do not loose all your post. Would check every couple seconds. Drafts would be removed based on task job.
